Meet Karen, An Alnylam Patient Education Liaison
During my time as a nurse, I was always interested in rare diseases and in the complexity of genetics. I have 24 years of educational experience and have enjoyed every moment of it. I have a passion for working with patients who have rare genetic diseases, and I am driven by experiences I have had in my own family involving genetic diseases.
I became a nurse to help patients and their families achieve their goals of wellness and better understand their disease. After my own family’s experiences with genetic diseases, I saw the value and hope that knowledge can provide.
Why I Love What I Do
I love what I do because of the opportunities I have to meet new patients and learn from their experiences. I am inspired by the warmth and care that families demonstrate during their educational journey. Each family has a different dynamic and story, and it’s amazing to be a part of that.
My superpower is kindness; sometimes even the worst day can be improved with a little kindness.
I love spending time with my family, including my favorite activity, “Family Game Night.”
