What is Alnylam Assist®?
The Alnylam Assist® program offers you support throughout your treatment with an Alnylam product. This includes helping you understand your insurance coverage for your treatment and the options for financial support for which you may be eligible. Alnylam Assist® also will provide materials that may help start a conversation with your doctor and family about your treatment.
How do I get started in the Alnylam Assist® program?
When you and your doctor choose to begin treatment with an Alnylam product and to enroll in Alnylam Assist®, the next step is to complete the Start Form together. Your doctor has options on how to do this. Doctors will either complete the form with you present, or begin the form by filling out their physician information, then share with you via email to complete your portion. Then, your doctor will submit the form to Alnylam Assist®. Upon receipt of the Start Form, an Alnylam Case Manager will reach out to you and your doctor.
What support services does Alnylam Assist® provide?
After you and your doctor decide to begin treatment with an Alnylam product and enroll in Alnylam Assist®, we can provide support in 3 key areas:
- Understanding benefits
- Eligibility for financial assistance
- Disease and product education
Who are Alnylam Case Managers?
Once you and your doctor choose to start treatment with an Alnylam product, you will be partnered with an Alnylam Case Manager. Case Managers are trained professionals whose expertise is in helping patients get started on an Alnylam treatment and providing product support.
Alnylam Case Managers will tailor their method of communication to what works best for you.
A Case Manager will help you understand your insurance coverage benefits and verify them for you. They can also inform you about financial support that you may be eligible for as well as provide you with educational resources. In addition, Case Managers can connect you with a Patient Education Liaison (PEL).
Who are Patient Education Liaisons (PELs)?
PELs have backgrounds in nursing and are experienced in educating patients and their family members about their disease. PELs can help you in a variety of ways, including providing disease and product education, connecting you to additional resources, and answering questions about treatment with an Alnylam product. The purpose of Alnylam PELs is to provide education to patients, their families, and caregivers.
PELs are employees of Alnylam Pharmaceuticals. They are not acting as healthcare providers and are not part of your healthcare team. PELs do not provide medical care or advice. All diagnosis and treatment decisions should be made by you and your doctor.
What additional resources are available?
In addition to patient support services, Alnylam Assist® offers educational materials for patients and their families, including downloadable resources, and links to advocacy groups that connect them to a community of support.
What if I’m a caregiver?
Alnylam Assist® is here to support you by helping your loved one access their prescribed Alnylam treatment and providing you with education about the condition. We also provide you with independent organizations on the resource pages for each Alnylam product.
